A Hundred Glittering Lights

I love looking at the lights on the Christmas tree. I think that’s what I'll miss most when the season is over. There is a lot of hope in the lights. They seem to contain a million thoughts—a welcome of rest and peace for the moment, promises of hope and answered prayers for the future.... Continue Reading →

Today I’m Grateful

Happy Thanksgiving! If this is a day you celebrate, how are you celebrating today? For me, Thanksgiving has always been a special day. More than the food, more than the get togethers, more than anything really, Thanksgiving has always been about reflection. For me the day is a sort of pause, a day where time... Continue Reading →

The Halloween Parade

Happy Halloween! It's hard to believe that it's been another year already, another fall, another season. It's still early in the morning here as I sit at my computer writing this. Through my window the street is quiet. The sun is out, no one else is. But even though it's early, soon the street will... Continue Reading →

The Under World

This world here is quiet, with nothing but faint voices and the occasional sound of footsteps. It is very dark, there are lights but they are man-made, and relatively dim. Just... Continue Reading →

Fairytale Land, Far Away

I used to visit them often, and would spend the afternoon gazing into the spaces between the rocks that I was certain formed the doorways of their homes. I liked to observe the moss, hanging low over... Continue Reading →

Para mi familia~For my Family

I'm about to be really honest. I don't usually like to post things that are controversial. I'm not a confrontational person and I don't speak my mind a lot. I feel vulnerable and incredibly afraid to write about something so deeply personal. But we all have our moments, I suppose, where something compels us to... Continue Reading →

A Mighty Place

This place doesn't need us. But we need it. It was the first thing that came into my head when I saw it. There are few places that make you feel as though time has stopped. The nature of a tourist site pretty much makes that impossible. There is noise, there are crowds, people jostling... Continue Reading →

We Return Lost Time

I responded to an interesting ad today. I saw it in the paper, right there next to all of the other usual things being advertised. It was only four words. "We return lost time." Underneath this there was contact information. I read it again. What did that mean? Unable to resist, I got my things and went to the address advertised.
